God loves you and desires a relationship with you. We are all sinners. All of us have done at least one thing wrong. We have all lied at some point, disobeyed, or even stolen. Sin separates us from God.
For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23
God is perfect, and cannot have sin in His presence. As a matter of fact, He punishes all wrong that we do.
For the wages of sin is death; - Romans 6:23a
That death is eternal separation from God in Hell. It is our penalty for sin and the wrong things that we do. It is also the penalty for just one wrong thing that we have done. Just imagine trying to pay for one sin with an eternity in Hell. And that is just for one sin. Now we have all done more that just one wrong thing. Jesus Christ is God's only solution for our sin.
What does the entire verse say?
For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23
There is a way out! Jesus Christ is God’s only solution for our sin. Through Jesus we experience God’s love and forgiveness. God is giving us the gift of eternal life. But how do I receive it? The Bible says through Jesus Christ.
Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me. - John 14:6
Jesus said He was the way to Heaven. But how?
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. - John 3:16
You may ask, how do I get this gift of eternal life? I believe? Is it that simple? Just believe there is a God? What do I need to believe? How did He give me this gift?
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures - I Corinthians 15: 3-4
You see, Christ took your place on the cross for your sins. That is why He had to die. He was paying our penalty for the sins we have committed. Then He rose again after three days, showing that His payment for our sins was accepted by God.
ButGod demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.- Romans 5:8
You see, everyone can go to Heaven if they trust in Christ to get them there. Just believe! You have a choice: You can trust in Christ's work on the cross, and His payment for our sins to get you to Heaven, or you can try to do it your own way and fail.
Receiving Christ involves repenting (turning from your sin) and turning to God and trusting Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins. Here is how you can receive Christ:
Believe - Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
Confess - Admit your need for Him and repent and turn away from your sins.
Ask - Through prayer, ask Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life.
Receive - Receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer.
How to Pray: Prayer is simply talking to God. God doesn’t make a big deal about the words you choose as much as He does about the attitude of your heart. Here’s a simple prayer but feel free to use your own words as you express your desire for Christ to come into your life.
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer and sincerely meant it then Christ will come into your life as He promised.
If you’ve just asked Jesus Christ to come into your life and would like to share your decision, please let us know by sending us a quick note.
God's Assurance: His Word
If you prayed this prayer,
The Bible says:
For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. -Romans 10:13
Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one can boast. -Ephesians 2:8,9
He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. -1 John 5:12-13
By receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who instills every believer. This is called regeneration, or the "new birth."
This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should:
* Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better. * Talk to God in prayer every day. * Tell others about Jesus. * Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Jesus is preached. * Demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
"...so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life" John 3:15
